The Bible of the Revolution
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
Until the American Revolution, America’s Bibles were shipped from England. When that supply was cut off and supplies became low in 1777, Congress resolved to import 20,000 copies of the Bible from other countries.
This decision was based on on a Congressional committee’s determination that “the use of the Bible is so universal and it’s importance so great.” However the resolution was not acted upon, although the need still remained.
Robert Aitken of Philadelphia published a New Testament in 1777 and followed it with three additional editions. In early 1781, he petitioned Congress and received the approval to print the entire Bible. Thus originated the first American printing of the English Bible in 1782, what has come to be called the “Bible of the Revolution.”
The first Congress of the States assumed all the rights and performed all the duties of a “Bible Society” long before such an institution was in existence in the world.?

Did You Know?
Bats
Bats come equipped with sonar capabilities which is much better than man’s copy. Bats are the only flying mammals in existence. They sleep during the day and come out at night to hunt for their food. Their sonar is so advanced that they can fly around in a darkened room which have fine wires strung all around it and never touch any of those wires. There are complicated flaps of skin around their nostrils, and special structures in their ears which are used to emit and receive high frequency sound waves. They omit these sound frequencies at up to 32,000 per second which is beyond human hearing.
Built in Sonar
These sonar capabilities are not just so they won’t fly into anything in the dark but also to find their food in the dark. Their sonar is so good that they can detect fruit flies from 100 feet away and catch as many as five per second. They catch and eat thousands of insects every night.
Sleep upside down
The Bats pelvic girdle is completely backwards from ours which enables their knees to bend opposite of ours allowing them to sleep while hanging upside down. Young bats come equipped with special teeth with hooks on the inside of them which enables them to hold onto the thick hair of the mothers shoulder. They not only have this feature but also the instinct to use them to hold on to their mother.
Little Mammals
When we see all that is built into those little mammals, their highly designed sonar and the ability to use it. The ability to hang upside down, the instinct of the young to hold onto their mothers with special hooks in their teeth there is only one thing that we can say. What a wonderful, loving Creator we have in Jesus Christ. For He designed these little mammals and gave them a purpose in their lives. Just the same way He has and gives us a purpose in our lives.
Purpose in Life
How do we find this purpose? The way is to first i believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, ask Him forgiveness of our sins and accept Him as our Lord and Master of our lives.
Created
We were created specially by His loving kindness. He has a special purpose for each of us and through His Word, “The Bible”, we find the reason for living. Life is not just one big party, not a big mistake, or something that just happened in time and space, we are not a mistake. For we were made for a purpose, He brings into our lives a reason for living, and puts His joy into our heart when we place our faith and trust in Him. We were created to praise Him and in so doing we find His peace, His Joy and His purpose.
His Love and Care
As we look around the world we can see His love and care even in a world wrecked with the ravages of sin and evil. There is still beauty all around us, the sunrise and sunset, flowers, beautiful birds and so much more. He created this for our enjoyment. However, the most important thing is to trust and believe. If you have never trusted, and believed and placed your faith in Him, now is the time to do so. For we are not promised a certain amount of time and we are always only “One heart beat” away from eternity, and His Word tells us that once our physical bodies die, if we have never placed our faith and trust in Him that we will stand before Him at the Great White Throne Judgment, and spend eternity in a lake of fire, which I pray none of you ever will.
Joy and Peace
My prayer is that you may you trust Him at this very moment and receive His Joy, His peace, His direction and purpose in your lives. For Christ is our Life and our length of days.
