Lucifer and the fallen angels have no redemption
Our Real Enemy
Why is it that Lucifer and the angels that fell with him have no chance of redemption?
Lucifer and the angels of heaven were created by God sometime before the creation of man.
Lucifer and the angels were created holy and sinless; they had no old sin nature. Lucifer was the anointed Cherub, he was the highest and most powerful and most beautiful
of Gods created angels. Lucifer it seems was in charge of the worship to God and led the angelic host in this worship. Lucifer saw the LORD face to face, he was there and
he witnessed the LORDs power and saw the holiness and justice of God. Lucifer understood that he was a created being, and that the entire angelic host were created beings. He also
understood the beauty of
the LORD and the immensity of the LORDS creation. He loved the perfection of the LORD and for a time even before time was designed by the LORD,
served the LORD in holiness and righteousness, loving
the LORD and all that was done by the Holy Divine.
However there was an instant when Lucifer saw his beauty, for the LORD created him as the most beautiful of all the other angels, and satans pride began to well up inside of him.
He thought how beautiful and powerful am I, who else is there beside me that should be in charge of this universe which the LORD has created. Thus began the evil sinful nature in
Lucifer. In order to push the LORD off His throne and take over the kingdom of heaven and set himself up as God he knew he needed help. Through his insidious persuasion and deceit
he somehow persuaded one/third of the created angels to throw their lot in with him in his rebellion against the LORD of Hosts (armies). This could have been one trillion angels or
more that sided with Lucifer in his treason. One out of every three angels followed Lucifer, now called satan, the Adversary.
So why cannot satan ever be saved, why is there no redemption for the evil one and his demons, which were holy angels of the LORD. They saw the face of the LORD, they were
created by Him and knew it and chose to deliberately, without an old sin nature, but with a free will, to rebel against the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. They freely knowing
who the LORD was and seeing HIM they still chose Lucifer over the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, the one who created them!
We can say that mankind on the other hand has never seen the face of the LORD. However this is true to only a certain extent for Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden walked
with the Lord in the cool of the evening. Even though they saw God and walked with Him they were innocent, but still contained a free will. Eve was deceived but Adam was not deceived
and made a choice to follow the evil one. Adam and Eves temptation came from the outside of them, it was from an outside force, the lying deception of satan; and Mankind ever since
the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden have a fallen nature, a nature that is an enemy with God. Mankind is born spiritually dead, separated from God with no hope of ever having
any ability to be with their creator, or to even love Him. We as a people are completely helpless, no matter how good a life we lead, no matter how much we give, no matter how much
we would pray there is no way we can pay the penalty that sin demands. Lucifer and the angels on the other hand were with God, they could see Him and understand what He had done for
them, that He was their Creator and Sustainer and yet willingly rebelled against HIM. Man on the other hand is dead in sin and offenses to God with no spiritual light or life. It is
only through the illumination of the Holy Spirit that we are able to understand who God is; it is He who draws us to God and gives us the desire to know Him.
A question! Why did God make free will if free will is what has made evil possible?
It is because free will though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having. A world of automatic creatures that
worked like machines-would hardly be worth creating! (C.S. Lewis)
God knew what would happen if He gave His created creatures free will. He knew what would happen if His created creatures used their freedoms the wrong way and He thought it worth
what would happen. God knew that Lucifer would choose the free will given to him and knew that Adam and Eve would hearken to the words of satan, the adversary, once Lucifer. God thinks
the state of warfare in the spiritual realm and the warfare on this earth a price worth paying for giving to each of us free will!
Again we look at why Lucifer went from worshipping God to the dark powers of fighting and rebelling against Him. We cannot be absolutely sure but it seems that with his free will,
Lucifer, became aware of self, how long that may have taken from his creation is uncertain. Lucifer wanted to put himself first, he wanted to be the center of attention and what better
way is there than being God and having all the worship and praise directed to him. This is what satan taught the human race, that we can be like god, and be the directors of our own
destinies as if we were our own creators and our own masters and that we can find happiness and salvation within ourselves. You have heard the old saying; I am a self-made man!
From this philosophy from the evil one has come the hopeless attempts which is the history of the human race without God; poverty, war, prostitution, drug addiction, slavery, class
wars, empires rising against empires, evil dictators, ambition, struggle for riches and power, murders and all the rest. None of this gives happiness to those who achieve it, and those
who dont have it have no rest for they constantly struggle to get it. Ask a man who has a million dollars how much more he needs and he will say, just a little more. All these things
cannot produce happiness or contentment in the hearts of men and women. This is pride, there is pride in a job well done, and there is nothing wrong with this kind of pride, but the
kind of pride that satan has, comes from self-righteousness and is sin. Those who are filled with this kind of pride are so consumed with themselves that they have no room or care or
concern for the Lord or for His will in their lives. This kind of pride does not seek God nor is there any room in the heart for God to those who are filled with this kind of pride.
Proverbs 16: 18-19 tells us that pride goes before a fall, or destruction. Isaiah 14: 12-15 tells us satan had the selfish prideful arrogance to think he could replace God. But satan
will be cast down to hell and the Lake of Fire in the final judgment of God. Pride has kept many, and perhaps most from accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Admitting
that we are sinners and that we are unable in our own strength to do anything to inherit eternal life is a huge stumbling block for those with a prideful heart. Pride is giving
ourselves credit for what God has done and taking the Glory that belongs to God and keeping it for ourselves.
The reason these things cannot never succeed in giving us true happiness and meaning in life is because God created us, for God made us humans to find happiness and satisfaction in
Him. C.S. Lewis wrote: He (God) is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn, or the food our spirits were designed to feed on. There is no other.)
There is no
happiness and peace apart from God, for we were made for Him. Just as all the angels were made to find their happiness and joy in God Himself, mankind is meant to find their
peace and happiness and joy and direction in life from God Himself. Satan chose to use his free will to try to be the center of the universe, he choose to use his free will to
rebel against God and to try and dethrone Him. However angels and we, mankind, are only created beings and can in no way dislodge God from His throne. For all power and authority
belongs to Him. He is the ultimate ruler and His laws and rule cannot be destroyed. Satan seduced one-third of the angelic host to follow him and I wonder how much of mankind he has
seduced. One-third of the angels followed him and it seems that more than two-thirds or more of men and women follow his doomed attempt to rule the heaven.
God made a way that we may all be saved. That man would be saved and spend eternity with Him is the great desire of the heart of God. He desires that all men should be saved. This is why He sent His only begotten
son into the world as a baby in the manger over two thousand years ago. This baby, Jesus Christ, hypostatic union, one-hundred percent God and one hundred percent Man, paid the price
for our salvation. Man has a
choice of either accepting or rejecting, of believing what God has said in His word or disbelieving what He has said in His Word. We have the same ability as the angels to serve God
or to rebel against God. We have a free will just at Lucifer and the angels had. Lucifer and the angels chose to rebel and reject the God they could see, and the creation which He
made, and His beauty, and they chose to reject their God and creator. Their fate was sealed at the day they rejected and rebelled against God. Our destinies are not sealed until the day we die. Our destinies
will be determined by what we do with the God-Man Jesus Christ. As Joshua said; For me and my house we will serve the LORD, I have chosen to do so also.
What will you do with your free will?
Worship and serve or rebel and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire where there will be eternal weeping and wailing,
where there will be no rest day or night. To me the choice is easy.
