God is still looking for Those He can use!
Throughout history God has used men and women to bring the Word of God to untold millions upon millions. But you say who am I, what can I do? I’m not important, God can’t use me! When we tell someone about Jesus. We have no way of telling what God is going to do. In our lifetime we will probably have no idea of what the full harvest of souls brought to the Kingdom of God is by one’s obedience to Christ. Simply by remaining faithful to what God has called you to do can make an immense difference in a life and in the world.
Listen to these true facts!
Did you ever hear of Edward Kimball? No! Most people have never heard of him. Edward Kimball was a Sunday school teacher, he wasn’t famous. But he cared about his Sunday School students and prayed for them often. In the year 1854, a seventeen year old boy was working in a shoe store in Detroit. This 17 year old boy did not know Christ and had no interest in Christ or anything spiritual or religious in nature. But one day his Sunday School teacher “Edward Kimball” went to the shoe store were the boy was stocking shelves and confronted him about the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
That Man Was!
That young man was Dwight L Moody. We now know that he went on to become one of the greatest evangelists in the world, and shared the gospel with over 100 million people. This was the age before modern technology, microphones, and the internet. He founded the Moody Bible Institute and Moody Memorial church in Chicago. Moody went on to influence a man named F. B. Meyer, a London pastor and an intellectual who never focused on Jesus in any of his preaching.
However, his congregation had heard about Moody and told Meyer that they wanted Moody, now a famous evangelist to come and speak to them. Meyer agreed reluctantly to bring Moody.
Meyer was an intellectual with a lot of pride, he had doctorates, he was brilliant, and also ashamed of Jesus Christ, and possibly not even a believer in Jesus Christ. When meeting Moody, Meyer immediately took a dislike to him, for Moody was not well dressed and only had a fifth grade education. When Moody got up to preach in Meyer’s church Moody was anointed by the Holy Spirit. The Power of God was upon Moody and as he spoke, he focused on Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. There were hundreds of people who came to Jesus Christ that day when Moody preached.
At first Meyer was jealous and angry, but the Holy Spirit broke through, and he was convicted and supernaturally changed, and for the rest of his life he preached Jesus to all who would listen to him.
As the years Passed!
As the years passed Meyer influenced J. Wilbur Chapman; Chapman was an evangelist and preached to thousands. One day, a professional baseball player had a day off and attended one of Chatman’s meetings, and thus, Billy Sunday was converted. Billy Sunday quit professional baseball and became a part of Chapman’s team. Chapman then accepted the pastorage of a large church and Billy Sunday began his own evangelistic crusades.
Billy Sunday influenced Mordecai Ham. Mordecai Ham was a scholarly, dignified gentlemen. When Ham came to Charlotte, North Carolina, there was a sandy-haired lanky young man who was still in high school. This sandy haired young man was invited to the evangelistic services, but vowed never to go hear Mordecai Ham preach.
However, Billy Frank as he was called by his family, did eventually go. He decided to go with another student from a nearby school, to interrupt the meetings and possibly start a fight. Bully Frank went that night; he was intrigued by what he heard, the spirit started stirring his heart. He returned another night and gave his heart to Jesus Christ. We know Billy Frank as Billy Graham.
As of 2008 Billy Graham’s estimated lifetime audience was approximately 2.2 billion people. His ministry is still going on even though he is now with the Lord. He died in March 2018. He invested his life in giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to others. And only God knows how many others are now influencing and leading others to Jesus Christ because of Billy Graham’s ministry. it can be traced from Edward Kimball who led Moody to the Lord. Who led Kimball to the Lord we don’t know? To be sure the Lord does.
Yes, You Can Be Used of the Lord!
So perhaps you could be another Moody, or Billy Graham! But you say not Me! But why not? God doesn’t look at us and say, Oh; he or she is too ugly, or she’s too pretty, or he’s too handsome. I can’t use them. Or he has no education, like Dwight Moody, or he is slow of speech like Moses, or he persecuted Christians, like Paul the Apostle.
We can make all kind of excuses, but we must all bow the knee to Jesus Christ one day. why not bow to Him, the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe out of love and obedience, serving Him wholly, with all our heart, and faith, and love. Who knows what God may do in your life. You may be famous as Moody, or you may be unknown to the world, but you will be known and loved by the Lord, and that is what is important.
Joshua said in Joshua 24:15: “Choose ye this day whom ye will serve, but as for me and my family we will serve the Lord.” Who will you serve? But as for me and my family we will the serve the Lord Jesus Christ even with all our failures and weaknesses.
How about You?
Did you know?
The world is still waiting to see what Christ can do with a man or a woman whose heart is completely given to Christ!
Won’t you be that Person?
